I have worked in the Birmingham Heartlands HIV Services department for the last three years, since becoming a qualified nurse.  I assist my team members with the support of the senior nurses in the running of the HIV clinics. I am phlebotomy-trained so I am also able to assist in obtaining venous samples for those of our patients attending for blood tests. Along with the other junior nurses in the team, I also rotate into the nurse-led annual health clinic, which is run weekly.

Other areas I am responsible for are the weekly ordering of medications that are required for the clinic, setting up tissue viability, and, with the assistance of associate link Clare Cody, I am also the department’s basic life support link trainer. Prior to joining the Birmingham Heartlands HIV Services team I worked for twenty years in the retail business and have brought up two lovely sons. In my spare time I enjoy swimming; cross stitch and knitting; gardening; going to the theatre; eating out; and have recently taken up painting.
