I am a band two healthcare assistant within the Department of Infection. I have worked here now for five years, and my responsibilities include assisting in the running of the paediatric clinic on a Monday and Tuesday morning to ensure that the children are kept safe during their time in clinic – as well as escorting them to the children`s phlebotomy room situated in ward 14. In addition, I assist the senior healthcare assistant in the processing of patients on arrival to clinic for their doctor appointment, as well as sourcing and preparing patient notes for various doctor/nurse clinics.
Prior to working in the Birmingham Heartlands HIV Service I worked as a homecare assistant for twelve years at Birmingham City Council. I also ran a crèche when I worked at Ladypool school for five years.
My hobbies include swimming; cooking; and family entertainment. I would like to in the future have the opportunity to access the phlebotomy training so that I could also obtain venous samples from patients requiring blood tests. My main happiness this year has come with the new arrival of my grandson, Arron, who was born in June.
