Title: Advanced HIV Occupational Therapist (OT)
Biography:
- Working at Heart of England and University of Birmingham NHS Foundation Trusts as an OT since 2002
- In current post since June 2010
- Trained at Brunel University BSc Occupational Therapy
- Leads OT service in HIV supporting both adult and adolescent services
- Committee member of the Rehabilitation HIV Association (RHIVA)
- Member of the Canada UK HIV Rehabilitation Research Collaborative (CUHRRC)
- Delivers occupational Therapy assessment and intervention related to cognitive, physical and psychological areas of functioning.
- Maintains professional development and clinical skills attending mandatory and supplementary training events
- Trained in safe manual handling of patients and use of equipment relevant to OT role
- OT practice educator co-ordinator – supervises students from Coventry University and co-ordinates the placements related to the acute OT service
- Acts as supervisor to Band 6 OT staff and OT support workers
- Health and care professions council (HCPC) registered OT
- Member of British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT)
Interests:
- Developing psychological OT service, particularly sleep hygiene
