Title:  Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) in Infectious Diseases (Outpatient HIV and ID wards)

Biography:

  • Working at Heart of England and University of Birmingham NHS Foundation Trusts as an OT since 2006
  • In current post since October 2009, specialising in adult care
  • Works on infectious diseases wards with a range of inpatients, including lead OT role for HIV inpatients
  • Provides OT service to HIV outpatients – includes role in Annual Health Check clinic
  • Maintains professional development and clinical skills attending mandatory and supplementary training events
  • Trained in safe manual handling of patients and use of equipment relevant to OT role
  • Trained OT practice educator – teaches and assesses Coventry University OT students on placement
  • Acts as supervisor to Band 5 OT staff and OT support workers
  • Health and safety representative for OT department
    • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
    • Member of British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT)
    • BSc Occupational Therapy, BSc Health Sciences

Interests:

  • Neurocognitive assessment  of adult patients
  • Member of running club – has completed charity runs, half marathons, Snowdon Mountain Challenge, Twin Peaks Challenge to raise money for club charity Marie Curie
